Training contract extensions should only be necessary in exceptional circumstances, for instance:
  • if there are significant delays or interruptions to the training beyond the control of you or your employer
  • if you and your employer decide you need more time to demonstrate you are competent to industry standards.

You and your employer must speak to your training provider and agree how much additional time you need.

You should both decide well in advance of the expiry date of the training contract that there is a need to extend and apply for it: training contracts cannot be extended once the end date has passed.

To apply to extend your training contract, download the extension application form (PDF). It needs to be completed and sent to TAS using the fax, email or postal address on the form.

TAS will notify you of the decision in writing.
