If the apprentice or trainee’s part-time arrangement (number of hours in work and training) needs to change, this change needs to be reflected on the training contract as it affects the term or duration of the training.

For example, the apprentice or trainee may change from 26 to 30 hours per week, or go from 25 to 20 hours.

Regardless of the change, you must advise TAS of the new arrangements, and the apprentice or trainee must still meet the minimum number of hours for the length of the training contract.

You can read guidelines regarding minimum hours in training and employment on the Training And Skills Commission website.

It must also comply with the underpinning industrial agreement.

You and your employer must agree to the changes.

To apply to change the hours of employment and training, download the Change of hours application form and send it to TAS using the fax, email or postal address on the form.

Once approved, you will be notified of the change of hours in writing.
