Training contract extensions should only be necessary in exceptional circumstances for instance:

  • if there are significant delays or interruptions to the training beyond the control of you or the apprentice/trainee
  • if you and your apprentice/trainee may decide they need more time to demonstrate that they are competent to industry standards.

You and your apprentice/trainee must speak to your training provider and agree how much additional training they need.

You and your apprentice/trainee should decide well in advance of the expiry date of the current training contract that there is a need to extend, and then apply for it: training contracts cannot be extended once the expiry date has elapsed.

To apply to extend your training contract, complete the extension application form and send it to TAS using the fax, email or postal address on the form.

TAS will notify you of the decision in writing.
