Employers (in association with training providers) can get funds to train Aboriginal jobseekers to train in mining and resources through the Connecting Aboriginal People to Mining (CAPM) program.

How it works

South Australian employers in mining, resources and supporting industry sectors are able to get funding through the Connecting Aboriginal People to Mining program.

Employers are invited to partner with training providers and apply for funding for industry-specific training projects. Projects need to:

  • provide Aboriginal job seekers with industry training (accredited and/or non-accredited) relevant to employment opportunities in mining, resources or supporting industries
  • support Aboriginal job seekers to prepare for employment
  • and provide an employment commitment to participants upon successful completion of the project.

Project proposals will need to take a whole-of-life approach to program design and delivery in order to address social and cultural barriers. This should include:

  • mentoring
  • case management
  • and link with supporting services such as housing assistance, transportation,  career planning, and work readiness assistance.
