The South Australian Government has invested $100 million to create 20,800 apprenticeships and traineeships over four years, with a further $103 million provided by the Australian Government under the Skilling Australians Fund National Partnership Agreement.
As part of the new initiative expressions of interest are now open for business and industry to develop innovative projects to deliver apprenticeships and traineeships in partnership with the State Government.
There are more subsidised training places for students in 74 courses identified as priority areas, while non-government training providers can access 48 additional subsidised training courses.
Additional learner support services will be made available to help apprentices and trainees stick with their course and finish their qualification, and extra support for people who face barriers to employment.
The introduction of flexible apprenticeships for school students will help students complete the first year of their apprenticeship and start earning while still achieving their SACE.
Extra support will also be provided to group training organisations to expand into new sectors, and greater access to subsidised training for non-government training providers.
