Your child or student will learn the skills of a trade or occupation in the workplace with an apprenticeship or traineeship.
Once your child has decided on what sort of apprenticeship or traineeship they want to do, they’ll need to find an employer who will take them on. The employer will then contact the nearest Apprenticeship Network Provider and together help to choose a training provider.
For more information on how your child can start an apprenticeship or traineeship, see How to start an apprenticeship or traineeship.
Pre-apprenticeship and pre-vocational courses
Your child can prepare for an apprenticeship or traineeship with introductory pre-apprenticeship or pre-vocational courses.
These courses can help your child try out career and gain some valuable experience before diving into an apprenticeship or traineeship.
For more information, visit Australian Apprenticeships Pathways.
If your child is still at school
Your child can begin training for a job or trade while they’re at school.
For more information, see School-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
