Aquaculture workers perform routine tasks in breeding and raising fish and other aquatic stock.

What do aquaculture workers do?

  • feed and grade fish, and monitor their growth
  • assist with farm layout and construct nets, long-lines and cages
  • check and look after pumps, equipment, fish housing and water quality
  • operate lifting equipment such as forklifts and small cranes
  • harvest fish and restock pens, pools, tanks, ponds, rivers and dams with juvenile fish
  • collect and record growth, production and water quality data
