What do motor vehicle parts and accessories fitters do?

  • fit batteries and install accessories such as sun roofs, stereos and alarms
  • remove damaged glass, trim strips and rubber seals from window frames and mountings on motor vehicles, position new windscreens and glass windows on frames and attach and seal them
  • inspect, remove and repair muffler mountings, and fit new mufflers, extractors and exhaust pipes
  • remove radiators and clean and repair them, install new or repaired radiators into vehicles and repair and replace other units in the cooling system such as thermostats, head gaskets and water pumps
  • inspect and repair punctures in tubes and tubeless tyres, and balance wheels and tyres using static and electronic equipment
  • operate air driven equipment to remove and refit tyres and tubes on vehicles
