Product assemblers put together components and subassemblies that go into the production of metal products, electrical and electronic equipment, jewellery and precious metal articles, and joinery products.

What do product assemblers do?

  • locate, position and secure components on workbenches
  • punch and drill mounting holes in parts and assembled products
  • assemble and secure components in sequence by nailing, screwing, gluing and dowelling, riveting, crimping, soldering and spot welding components
  • fit hardware items, such as hinges, catches and knobs, to parts
  • attach and fasten jewellery and jewellery parts to make bracelets, necklaces, brooches and earrings
  • smooth and finish items using files, grinding wheels and emery paper
