Roof tilers

Roof tilers cover roofs with tiles, sheets and shingles to form a waterproof surface.

What do roof tilers do?

  • study drawings, specifications and work sites to determine materials required
  • erect ladders and scaffolds and place and secure waterproof sheets over eaves
  • nail and staple roofing underlay to roofs
  • align starter rows of roofing material with edges of roofs, securing with wire, staples and nails, and overlap successive layers of tiles
  • size and cut roofing material to fit around vents, chimney edges, corners and ridges and fix edge and ridge tiles in cement mortar
  • slip roofing material under pre-fabricated flashing and nail it down
