What do upholsterers do?

  • work with clients to determine materials and cost of furniture items to be made or repaired
  • make and repair wooden frames, and remove and replace defective springs
  • remove coverings, webbing and padding from old furniture
  • measure and cut materials and cover furniture and secure material, padding, springs and webbing to articles to be upholstered
  • seam cushions and join sections of covering material, attach ornamental trims, braids and buttons
  • pad and cover spring units to upholster mattresses
